|Description||Afzelia Doussie is extremely durable type of wood. It is also known as Doussie and is a particularly beautiful and stable wood species. It has uniform reddish brown colour with pores filled with whitish yellow powder. It is prized for its quality, its bark, which has many medicinal uses, and its nitrogen-rich leaves, which enrich the soil. The colouring traditionally consists of pale yellow to white hues, while the heartwood ranges from golden brown to reddish-brown hues. The beautifully flamed graining is straight and slightly interlocked with a medium natural luster. The texture is somewhat coarse. Afzelia is very hard and has excellent resistance to wear. Because of its hardness and strength it is among the most valuable exotic hardwood species. The heartwood becomes dark red-brown upon prolonged exposure, sometimes with darker streaks. The sapwood consists of pale straw or pale yellow to whitish in colour. The grain is straight to moderately interlocked, or irregular.|
